Born in 1931 to Italian immigrants, Francis Paul, known to many as Mr. Frank. started his photography business in 1961 by taking baby pictures and family portraits in people’s homes in order to supplement his salary as a City College High School math teacher. With a growing reputation, Frank soon became in demand, and he left his teaching job to pursue photography full time, attending conventions, workshops, and seminars. His work won prestigious photographic honors and awards and expanded to include weddings, events, celebrations, sports, and school pictures.

Due to his increased demand and the volume of work he was producing, he eventually opened his own studio, F. Paul Galeone Photographers, Inc. and hired an independent lab to do the processing; however, many of the pictures were washed out and were not up to his standard of quality. Undaunted, Frank opened his own lab to ensure that no pictures left the lab unless they were perfect. His emphasis on quality, customer service and competitive pricing helped F. Paul Galeone Photographers and Color Lab to gain a respectable reputation and loyal following.

From its inception, Frank trained and hired family to help run the business, including his two sisters, his children, and several nieces and nephews, many of whom still work in the business today. Frank created a true “family business.”

When Frank passed away in 2019, his daughter Annemarie took over the day-to-day operation of the business and was later joined by her siblings Joseph and Christine; together, they, along with the dedicated employees, expanded and moved the company to its current location and rebranded as Galeone Photographers and Color Lab.

Following in their father’s footsteps, the children are committed to managing the business following the same core values that their dad instilled.

Throughout all the years, Frank’s wife Elaine has not only been his biggest supporter but has been instrumental in the growth and development of the business. Even today, Elaine is a driving force behind the continued success of the business.
